Beyond the Barricade is the UK’s longest running Musical Theatre Concert Tour. A magical show covering the very best of musical theatre, having just celebrated its 25th Anniversary... what an amazing milestone!

Join the cast for two hours of the best of Broadway and the West End, featuring the songs that have made audiences return over and over again. Enjoy numbers from The Phantom of the Opera, Hamilton, The Lion King, Jesus Christ Superstar, West Side Story, Blood Brothers, Miss Saigon and many others, climaxing with a spectacular finale from Les Misérables!

The concert tour features Andy Reiss, David Fawcett, Katie Leeming and Sarah Ryan who have all played principal roles in both the West End and UK Tours of Les Misérables, together with a live band who capture the feel of the original orchestrations of the chosen musicals.

 

Don’t miss this fantastic show, made even more special within the natural outdoor setting of the Cromer Hall Estate. The show has appeared in many countries, from Denmark to New Zealand, make sure you don’t miss it on your own doorstep!

INTRODUCING THE CAST

 

 

DAVID FAWCETT

Having spent 2 years in the West End production of ‘Les Miserables’ where he played Brujon, the Bishop of Digne and the leading role of Jean Valjean.

He also appeared in the 10th Anniversary Concert of Les Miserables at the Albert Hall in 1995, and the Euro 96 closing ceremony at Wembley Stadium.

 

David’s roles have included, Jesus in the rock musicals ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ and ‘Godspell’, the Emcee in ‘Cabaret’ and Sky Masterson in ‘Guys and Dolls’.

 

He teamed up with producer Nigel Stewart, and Andy Reiss, the other original Barricade boy, to direct the highly acclaimed production of ‘Annie’ in Guildford and Portsmouth, starring comedienne Faith Brown in her first stage musical role.

 

David has also directed ‘Godspell’, ‘Chicago’ and ‘The Best little Whorehouse in Texas’ as well as writing, performing and directing pantomimes.

SARAH RYAN

Sarah was BBC Choirgirl of the year at age 15. 

 

She has performed as Cosette in Les Miserables and as Christine in The Phantom of the Opera. She was also in the original London cast of Beauty and the Beast.

 

Sarah has also performed in Evita, and Jerry Springer the Opera, and played Josephine in HMS Pinafore for Opera Della Luna.

 

She is Soprano soloist for the English National Orchestra, performing concerts across the UK. Sarah is a founding member of classical crossover group Access All Arias. 

 

She can also be heard on many movie soundtracks, including Pirates of the Caribbean, Into The Woods, and Alice In Wonderland, and she has also contributed Backing Vocals for Robbie Williams, Eric Clapton...and Susan Boyle!

ANDY REISS

Andy Reiss began his musical career at the tender age of 5 with the Hednesford Salvation Army brass band. Andy was cast in the first UK production of Les Miserables to appear outside of the West End. Andy stayed with Les Miserables throughout its residency at the Palace Theatre in Manchester. 

 

Andy has also performed in Les Miserables in Dublin and Edinburgh, returning as the Resident Director for the 1st National Tour. Andy can also be seen as the Paris Pimp in the 10th Anniversary Concert at The Royal Albert Hall. 

 

He has played Che in Evita in the UK National Tour, and performed in Chess, both in the UK and Norway. He was also musical director for Annie in Portsmouth and Guildford and he directed the first UK production of Seussical in Glasgow.

 

Andy has worked as MD on a new production of The Rocky Horror Show, and was seen in his critically acclaimed performance, starring as Dr. Jekyll and Mr Hyde at the Teatru Manoel, Malta in Jekyll & Hyde

KATIE LEEMING

Katie was trained at the Birmingham School of Speech and Drama. She spent three years in the West End playing various roles, including Eponine in Les Misérables (Palace Theatre), understudy Florinda in La Cava (Picadilly Theatre) and Izz Huet in Tess of the D’Urbervilles (Savoy Theatre).

 

Katie joined Beyond the Barricade in 2002, following her time in Les Misérables. After two years she left 
to play the role of Carrie in ITV’s drama Single, and returned to home turf in The Wizard of Oz at The Birmingham Rep. Returning to Beyond the Barricade in 2005 and since then has been involved with Opus Theatre Company, and recently played the role of Mrs Spatchcock in House of Pain at The Lichfield Garrick Theatre.

 

She appeared in the 25th Anniversary concert at the O2, and was delighted to be asked to perform at The Royal Variety Performance 2010 at The Palladium Theatre. Her involvement with Les Misérables continues with the televised performance of The Classical Brit Awards at the Royal Albert Hall, as well as appearing on the soundtrack to the hugely successful Les Misérables film.
